BCTA Showcases Caribbean Investment Potential at the 14th China Overseas Investment Fair
In November 2024, the Bahamas-China Trade Association (BCTA) participated in the 14th China Overseas Investment Fair (COIFAIR) at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. As the only Caribbean-based investment promotion body at the event, BCTA actively promoted The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean as emerging frontiers for Chinese outbound investment.
With the theme “High-Level Openness for Global Development”, COIFAIR brought together representatives from nearly 100 countries, international organizations, and multinational companies. BCTA’s presence focused on the theme “Invest in The Bahamas, Connect to the Americas”, highlighting opportunities in offshore finance, marine economy, sustainable tourism, and clean energy.

At the China-Latin America Investment Cooperation Forum, BCTA’s Director delivered a keynote address as the Caribbean delegate, proposing concrete actions such as establishing a bilateral investment platform, initiating tax treaty dialogues, and enhancing cooperation in digital finance. The presentation drew interest from Chinese companies in energy, logistics, port development, and smart infrastructure sectors.

BCTA also held side meetings with provincial investment agencies and business chambers, paving the way for future missions to The Bahamas. The Association invited global attendees to join the upcoming Sino-Caribbean Trade & Investment Summit to be held in ShenZhen in 2025.
BCTA reaffirmed its commitment to acting as a strategic bridge between China and the Caribbean — supporting policy coordination, enterprise matchmaking, and legal compliance — with the goal of building a future-oriented, mutually beneficial investment framework.
