In January 2025, the Bahamas-China Trade Association (BCTA)<\/strong> was invited to participate in the World Connectivity Roundtable<\/strong> held in Beijing and hosted by Huawei Technologies<\/strong>. The event gathered senior representatives from Chinese government departments, the French Association of SMEs<\/strong>, numerous embassies, and international business organizations for an in-depth dialogue on digital connectivity, cross-border collaboration, and technology-enabled global development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a key Caribbean voice, BCTA delivered a focused presentation on how digital connectivity can enhance trade, logistics, and healthcare cooperation between China and The Bahamas<\/strong>. The Association proposed the development of a China-Caribbean Digital Connectivity Demonstration Zone<\/em>, leveraging submarine cables, data services, real-time logistics tracking, and telemedicine to build practical digital bridges between the two regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The French SME Association shared experiences in empowering small and medium-sized enterprises through digitalization and expressed interest in working with BCTA and Chinese companies to explore technology cooperation pilots in the Caribbean. Chinese officials attending the event welcomed the multilateral format and encouraged participants to explore trilateral and regional collaboration models under the Belt and Road Digital Initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BCTA noted that the event not only opened meaningful dialogues between Caribbean nations and global tech leaders but also laid the foundation for tangible cooperation. The Association will continue to advocate for multilateral partnerships in digital connectivity, industrial alignment, and talent exchange \u2014 contributing to a more inclusive, integrated, and resilient global future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
