BCTA Facilitates Bahamian Delegation’s First Visit to China’s Canton Fair

In October 2024, the Bahamas-China Trade Association (BCTA) organized and accompanied a Bahamian business delegation to the 136th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou — marking the first official visit by Bahamian enterprises to China’s largest and most influential trade exhibition. The visit set a new milestone in bilateral economic engagement between The Bahamas and China.

The delegation included companies from sectors such as tourism services, green building materials, seafood processing, handicrafts, and cross-border logistics. With BCTA providing professional interpretation and matchmaking support, the Bahamian representatives held direct talks with dozens of Chinese manufacturers, exploring cooperation in areas like consumer goods, clean energy, smart home products, and sustainable solutions.

“The scale and diversity of the Canton Fair exceeded our expectations,” said the head of the Bahamian delegation. “Thanks to BCTA’s hands-on support, we were able to move from observing to real business dialogue — we’re now considering several product pilots after returning home.”

Beyond the fairgrounds, the itinerary included roundtable discussions with local chambers of commerce, SME networking sessions, and visits to logistics hubs and ports in the Greater Bay Area. These helped the Bahamian businesses understand how to integrate into China’s manufacturing and distribution ecosystem.

BCTA reiterated its commitment to acting as both connector and consultant, offering full-cycle services for Caribbean businesses — from supplier engagement to order fulfillment, financial coordination, and logistics execution. The Association also extended an open invitation to Chinese enterprises to explore Caribbean markets via BCTA’s platform and seize new growth opportunities.
